The varsity side istargeting six points on their debut season in the KHF league.

Coach Martin Kamau says his charges, Daystar Falcons, are two wins away from achieving their targets on their debut season in the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) women's league.

Falcons finally earned their first win for two points in a 29-26 win over Rising Stars in a Sunday 12 February match played at the Nyayo Handball court.

The varsity side had a slow start, trailing 11-15 at the break but played a spectacular second half to level matters and go ahead, holding on for the win.

"After Saturday's loss to Kenyatta University, I had a conversation with the players and we were able to point out areas of concern that were leading to easy goals for the opponent.

We were not playing as a unit and that was our main undoing. Against Rising Stars, we made the same mistake in the first half.

After this win, the morale in camp is high and the players now know it is possible to fight as a team and win do I expect better results in upcoming matches," the tactician offered.

Lilian Kyande emerged top scorer in the match with 12 goals, combining with Meldone Akoth for 22 of the 29 the varsity side scored. Yvonne Rop and Faith Muia managed two each while Damaris Ilebun and Vanessa Paula added the other two.

Coach Kamau says the team is still within their targets of six points this season. "We have to fight for two more wins in the remaining seven matches," he reiterated his stance.

He continued, "We set the target on six because I have a young and inexperienced squad and this is our first season playing in a league other than the university one. It will take some time before the players are at the same level with the rest of the teams in the league but we will get there.

There is a great improvement from how we were playing in the first leg last year and I have to laud the players for how fast they have learned."
